Hi friends! Do you have any original characters, or any stories that you're working on? I would love to hear about your characters!! Talk about what they're like, tell me how you created them or why you like them, post art of them, or link to your Toyhou.se page or another website where you post your characters/story! You're welcome to share both character art you made yourself or art that you had commissioned, as long as you have permission to post it. You can also use this thread to talk about the process of character creation in general, share tools or guides for making characters, or ask for advice. Please don't give critique or character-specific advice unless the creator asks for it, though.
Putting this in General Discussion so that people don't think the thread is only for those who draw their own OCs, sorry mods if it's actually better in Art Share, feel free to move it of course. (I do think that the creation of characters, whether or not you do visual art of them, is still a form of art.)

I have more characters than I know what to do with!
I love collecting neat designs and doing CS MYOs, but I also have a bunch of my own story based original characters!
My top OCs at the moment are Ooria, Vadyn, Iyara & Bixby, and Lisandro!
Ooria is my oc who I developed into the paradigm for a cs! I love her so much, she just appeared to me one day while I was drawing outside!
Vadyn is my first "sona" type character. They are a demon who really isn't bad, just a bit reclusive and kinda creepy. They love long walks on the beach at night!
Iyara and Bixby I got as a part of a "make an oc for the person above you" game and I absolutely love them!
Lisandro is probably the oldest character I have dating back to a story I started in high school (and never finished!) Maybe someday I'll finish that story and actually get him and his cocharacters some good art!

i had "OCs" when i was in late elementary / middle school roleplaying on Gaia-- part of me kind of wants to revamp the characters (and have tried in the past) but i have a lot of i guess just creative block around them, and so i don't really know what to do with them lol.
i developed a "sona" when i began playing furvilla in college. i vehemently denied i was a furry.... and then kind of ended up being a furry lmao. scout and bronx are my main fursonas, though scout is in the middle of a big redesign and i'm currently debating whether or not to try and sell bronx, because i don't feel as attached anymore? idk!
lately my biggest OC-endeavors has been this: https://toyhou.se/shika/characters/folder:1375922 a furry slice-of-life (ish) story i'm calling "the city of ____". part of it is based off of some of the other games i played in the itch.io bundle like koshka's kofe, as well as a short hike and other furry games in that bundle.
right now my absolute favorites are felicity, a cranky and cynical graduate student with substance use issues who would rather be back home in the appalachians taking care of the ancestral home but is instead teaching bratty freshmen how to code, and vincent/woojin, a boy-crazy, skirt-wearing bear who is social media famous and almost entirely ignored/disliked/viewed as a little annoying in the city.
a lot of inspiration depends! vincent for example, is based off of BTS member kim taehyung/v, who really loves vincent vangogh/has (i think) kind of taken "vincent" as an english name (unsure about that part). he has a song called "winter bear" that's very soft and sweet, and so i wanted to make a bear named vincent. the rest of his character was just kind of like, what would be fun and interesting/who wasn't represented yet in my story?
felicity was originally a doodle i would make in classes while i was in grad school. she's actually named felicity because we'd watch clips of a show called felicity in class sometimes to explain and explore different concepts! i was miserable in grad school and ended up dropping out, but wanted to make a character... who was also miserable lmao.

My main OC universe is not very well explored BUT!!! I still love the characters in said universe. (This topic is also giving me a reason to look over what I've written for this Universe and revise it ^_^)
The "main character" is Cinnamon, and they are nonbinary (they/them)! They work at a café as a barista, and often visit the Terrarium. They are also part gem (* not Steven Universe, read footnote).
The next character I'd like to talk about is Pepper! They are fully gem - nonbinary (they/them) and , and are very anxious - they came to the human realm to learn about humans and was attacked.
Up next is Ricardo! He is a full gem too, and a trans male (he/him. He is a librarian for the city of Briarbourne, and hosts information for all kinds of people to learn about both Gem and human history. His library is called the Terrarium, seeing as his library has an extensive garden section.
Prism is the creator of all gems - and she is a trans girl (she/her). She is considered a goddess of in that universe, seeing as she grants wishes for people/animals (within reason).
* Footnote: Gems in this universe are not like ones in Steven Universe, full gems in this universe are solid and partial gems can crystallize parts of their body at will, at the cost of energy. Kinda like running a long time? I have yet to figure out how this ability can be passed down through a family.

I usually don’t do this as I don’t have overly developed characters, but my most recent, Autocorrect, is quite developed judging from the fact I just made him yesterday!

It basically started when I was complaining about autocorrect XD I’ve had the idea for a while, but never got to create it until Monday, but I’m glad I did, as I love the guy to bits! It’s not really his design, more of his personality and the stories I came up with (with my friend) about his and Scrabble’s (their OC) rivalry XD
