Kelembra Academy is nestled deep in the Arcaia Forest of the Endershore Kingdom. Being a relatively small kingdom governed mostly by faerie folk, needs of mortal creatures are left entirely up to the devices of the citizens. Despite an overall neglect by the governing bodies (which change with every season), the people of Endershore are safe from abuse of outsiders by the incredible size, density, and unpredictable magical qualities of the forest.
Despite being small and isolated, Endershore- and specifically Kelembra Academy- produce some of the finest magic wielders in the world. Is it by discerning selection and choosing only students with the highest pedigree? No! They take all children who wish to study the ways of magic! Some say that the forest empowers all creatures of it's land, and others insist that it is the extraordinary teachers and facilities that Kelembra has to offer. The truth, as so often is the case, is somewhere in the middle. Kelembra Academy is beautiful... but ancient and maybe just a bit worse for wear. There is SOME power hidden in the stones, though... The older students even say that the teachers don't even know every room to be found in the beautiful, sprawling mansion. It's only slightly been overtaken by the forest. (Except the greenhouse... students should bring shears if they want to get through the door on their first day of Herbology class.)

Tonight the students begin arriving at Kelembra Academy. The teachers rush about the grand hall, hanging decorations, greeting students as they walk through the doorway into the sprawling entrance hall. The stairs leading up to the front door of the academy are densely twisted with vines, purple flowers sprouting here and there. When brushed, the flowers mist a wonderful scent into the air and retreat into the thicket. New students "oooh" and "ahhh" and giggle to each other as they set off the flowers as they pass by. Older students weave through the crowds, looking for their friends.
The three-story manor was once the site of a palatial estate in the time of the last mortal king. After crossing the fae, he was cursed to be trapped inside his own home, feverishly building until he died, hammer in hand. The Unfinished Wing is said to be haunted by the Mortal King himself, but students are not permitted to go there.
Rumors all about the strange school and the forest fly through the air like lightening bugs. A soft hum of students speaking fills the air. The sun is starting to go down, but the dense forest darkens quickly. A tall and spindly woman with coily copper hair stuffed under a point black hat stands in the middle of the entry hall, greeting students in a magically enhanced voice. "Hello children! Welcome and welcome back! File on into the dinner hall, your seats are already prepared and I'm sure you're thirsty after the long journey some of you have had."

Thank you for taking a look at this RP thread! I wanted to do something fun and casual since there doesn't seem to be anything else in this forum yet. Feel free to fill out a character profile and PM it to me so I can add it to the post. Characters can be a student between age 13 and 20, or you can play a teacher/faculty member of some kind. Use whatever magic school tropes you like from your favorite magic school related fandom. Just remember to respect other player's boundaries and not write for anyone else's characters.

Name: Headmistress Velvet

Age: ???
Appearance: A tall and spindly woman with copper hair that coils wildly all over her head. She towers over most of the other teachers at the academy, almost having a spiderlike appearance. She always wears shimmering, acid green lipstick and has the most mischievous smile.
Personality: She loves spending time getting to know students and sometimes drops in on classes to spend the day learning with the students. She has a tendency to be vague, but her airy persona hides a clever and quick-witted woman underneath. Under her protection, Kelembra Academy has been safer than ever. Not only do the parents and teachers respect her, but she is a force to be reckoned amongst all casters.
Background: Velvet left Endershore immediately after school to go on extraordinary adventures. Some of the older students swear they've seen pirate tattoos on her arms. Although not everything about Velvet's early adulthood is know, once she did return to Endershore, she had amassed a huge list of wealthy and powerful allies. It did not take long for her to use her influence to take over Kelembra academy, under promises to solve it's mysteries once and for all, and maybe get the chaotic magic residing in the property under control.
Subject: Miss Velvet occasionally does guest lectures on bizarre and obscure subjects. Otherwise, she is happy to leave the teaching of classes to her capable faculty.
Extracurricular Club: Miss Velvet is not just the headmistress of the school, however, she is also the Keymistress... of the Knock Club! The Knock Club is a special extracurricular exclusive only to Kelembra Academy. Students join the club in order to do (supervised and limited) exploration and experimentation inside the forbidden areas of the Kelembra Estate. Many students apply to join the club every year, but Miss Velvet only accepts those that pass her initiation test.

Appearance: Gilly is at an awkward height. Having grown up seemingly overnight, they've returned to school with robes that are much too short. Big green eyes peer from behind large round glasses rimmed in thin bands of silver. Wavy lavender hair is parted down the middle and braided into two equal tails. Pretty blue freckles speckle their face and pointed ears. Gilly's skin is icy pale with hints of purple.
Personality: Gilly is a little shy and softspoken during social encounters, but as the Student Expedition Lead they take command; they know the challenges and dangers of the Kelembra Estate better than anyone (except perhaps Miss Velvet).
Background: Gilly is a twilight elf, born underground. They are from a land where the deepest roots of the Arcaia Forest actually reach and tap into ancient sources of magic from the earth. They have always felt a kinship with the trees and dreamed of coming to the surface to learn everything there is to know about Arcaia Forest.

Gilly strolled along amongst the other first year students, taking in the scents of the Blissblossom. They knew that the mild euphoria and contentment came from the magical properties of blissdust, but they enjoyed the feeling anyway. While other fifth years hurried to find their friends, Gilly just liked being back. Home was nice but... something about being in the lush forest with peeks of starts overhead had felt like home every since Gilly first came to the surface. They smiled and waved at Headmistress Velvet on their way into the dining hall, who gave them a smile and a wink. They were one of the first to sit, eagerly grabbing a fine crystal glass from in front of a pretty paper nameplate with "Gilly" printed on it. The juice in the glass was from a rare and wonderful berry only found in Arcaia Forest. Gilly had missed the taste so much while they were back at home. Sighing in satisfaction, Gilly watched the first years wander in and begin to search the hall for the spot with their name on it. They smiled pleasantly at each one, giving the first years what Gilly hoped was an encouraging expression.

This RP seems really interesting--the world looks inviting to explore and learn, and I must admit a more casual RP sounds pretty appealing~ This thread is probably dead, but if not I went ahead and made a student application =) Absolutely no pressure to get this RP booted back up if you've lost interest, but if you are interested keep me updated~

Appearance: A slightly muscular 5'2" Faun, Briar's brown with white speckles hind legs represent those of a doe rather then a goat. Her skin is tan littered with darker freckles on account of how frequently she is outside in the wilderness. Briar has two bright forest-green eyes that stand out as accents against her primarily brown coloration. She is sporting a dark brown short asymmetric pixie haircut. Her doe-like ears flicker and move almost radar-like at the slightest sound. Briar's arms are embellished scars with a variety of shapes and lengths from a lifetime of scraps she has found herself in over the years.
Personality: Briar comes off as dense and naive, but overwhelmingly enthusiastic about everything going on around her. She considers everyone she meets to be her friend.
Thanks to her ADHD Briar is not one to shy away from her impulses, and because of this she considers herself something of an "agent of chaos". This is not to say that Briar is always shrinking away from responsibility. To the contrary--she takes her purpose as a future guardian and custodian to the "Arcaia Forest" very seriously--though she always makes the time to chase some other distraction along the way of her goals.
Background: Briar never had much of a need for the authorities or civilians of the Endershore Kingdom. She grew up in a small herd of Faun in a hidden glade somewhere within the depths of the Arcaia Forest. The forest provided the herd with everything they needed, and in return the herd made it their purpose to protect the forest. How a faun might go about giving back to the forest is up to the individual, but every faun is sent away at age 18 to acquire a skill that will serve the enrichment of the forest. When Briar turned eighteen she had no idea what skill she wanted, so she packed up her bags and simply wandered around. In her travels she came across the Kelembra Academy. On a wim despite having no background in schooling of any kind in her life Briar decided to attend Kelembra Academy to pick up some skills in the magic field to better her capabilities of being care-taker to the forest. Briar has a lot to learn about magic, school, and the basics of living in a civilized society, but she is eager to learn and grow into her own capable Faun.
